

This course is designed to follow on from and build upon the skills and knowledge acquired in the GCSE Art and Design. The AS level course consists of 2 units of work The first is a Portfolio Unit where candidates will submit one or more projects and additional work aimed at developing technical skills or knowledge of the work of other artists. Unit 2 is an Externally Set Assignment which will take place between February and May. A supervised time of 5 hours for developing ideas will follow a period of initial research. Student will then have time to complete the assignment.
The A2 level course comprises another two units. Unit 3 is a Personal Investigation into the work of an artist or topic of the student’s choice and includes a 1000 to 3000 word essay. Unit 4 is an Externally Set Assignment and is similar to that of the AS level but has a supervised time of 15 hours.
